Trial of Milošević “guards” begins
Belgrade, December 22 (Source: B92) - The trial for those accused of interfering in the arrest attempts of Slobodan
Milošević in 2001 begins today.
A
total of 35 people will find themselves in front of the Secondary
Municipal Court in Belgrade today, including the leaders of
the Association for the Protection of Slobodan Milošević
“Sloboda,” Bogoljub Bjelic and Ratko Zečević.
Zečević has said that the trial is a political set-up
in order to completely eliminate the Sloboda association from
public life.
“I believe in our judicial system and I hope that the members
of the Association, as well as all indictees in this process,
will be freed, because the charges have no basis.” Zečević
said.
He said that no uniformed officials were halted in trying
to arrest the late Serbian president, adding that members
of the Zemun Clan tried to kidnap him at night.
