Ljajić: EU Negotiations in March

Belgrade, 03 January (Source: B92) - Rasim Ljajić says EU negotiations could resume if democratic government takes office after upcoming elections.

“A new government led by the Democratic Party will have to show resolve to have Ratko Mladić arrested.” said the head of the National Council for Cooperation with the Hague Tribunal.

Rasim Ljajić, who also leads the Sandžak Democratic Party and features high on the Democratic Party’s electoral list, added that the Stabilization and Association agreement was going to be signed only if Ratko Mladić is put behind bars.

“If Mladić is turned in by June, the agreement could be concluded shortly. Mladić in the Hague is the sole prerequisite for the conclusion of the SAA and that is final”, Ljajić said.

Ljajić also confirmed that the implementation of the Action Plan for arresting Mladić would continue until the new Serbian government is formed, after which certain changes might be introduced if deemed necessary.
